Beyond my professional life, here are the things that make me who I am. These interests and activities help shape my perspective and bring balance to my life.

Baduk (Go)

I discovered Baduk when I was 18 and it has become my main hobby. I study the game seriously and like to participate in Baduk-related activities.

What I enjoy:

  • Solving Baduk problems and puzzles
  • Watching and participating in Baduk tournaments
  • Playing games online and with friends
  • Studying professional games and strategies

I have never found a strong player who said that solving go problems is not important/essential. In fact, most of them said it is the most important thing along with playing games. I use various methods to improve: reading out all variations until being sure of the correct move, solving problems with time limits like real games, solving easy problems quickly to build intuition, and studying solutions directly to improve pattern recognition.

Languages

I decided a few years ago to start learning a new language every 5 years, and I've kept my promise so far.

What I enjoy:

  • Learning Korean and Japanese, making friends along the way

  • Practicing with native speakers
  • Studying grammar and vocabulary systematically

I really like to be efficient and learn languages in a way that sticks to my memory. I've been trying different methods to learn Korean over the past years. I particularly enjoy learning vocabulary and trying to use it (badly).
